WordPress
WordPress provides the content and administration foundation while PluginPip controls the public presentation through a bespoke theme.

PluginPip.co.uk was designed, written, coded, tested and refined as a working demonstration of how PluginPip approaches a real website project. Not a purchased demo. Not a page-builder skin. A deliberately engineered business website.
01 / THE BRIEF
The starting point was not “make a WordPress site”. It was to create a website that represented PluginPip properly and could support the business as it grows.
That meant the site needed to be distinctive without becoming difficult to use, technically strong without showing off technology for its own sake, fast without becoming fragile, and flexible without turning into a pile of interchangeable templates.
The public site also had to explain a deliberately focused launch service catalogue, make pricing understandable, support local search, create a clear enquiry journey and give visitors confidence that somebody remains accountable after launch.
Understand the problem. Choose the right technology. Build it properly. Keep it working.
02 / HUMAN WORK
Planning, writing, design decisions, coding, testing, server work, accessibility checks, SEO, debugging and repeated visual review all take human attention. PluginPip does not present an invented “hours spent” number just because a larger figure looks impressive.
Service structure, customer journeys, page hierarchy, launch scope and technical direction.
Brand application, responsive layouts, typography, spacing, interaction patterns and mobile behaviour.
Service copy, founder story, pricing, local content, trust language, legal presentation and calls to action.
Theme PHP, semantic HTML, custom CSS, lightweight JavaScript, WordPress APIs and supporting admin tools.
Metadata, structured data, local architecture, sitemaps, contrast, focus states, responsive behaviour and quality checks.
Plesk, caching, DNS, email routing, deployment checks, regression testing, backups and rollback preparation.
03 / UNDER THE SURFACE
The technology is intentionally conventional where conventional is reliable, and custom where custom work creates a real advantage.
WordPress provides the content and administration foundation while PluginPip controls the public presentation through a bespoke theme.
WordPress 7.1.3 checked on 20 Oct 2026Theme behaviour, page setup, forms, structured data and site logic use PHP and supported WordPress APIs rather than edits to WordPress core.
Maintainable by designSemantic markup, purpose-built CSS and lightweight JavaScript create the interface without relying on a visual page builder or a large front-end framework.
Responsive from the startNo external font dependency. No generic animation framework. No unnecessary public libraries loaded simply because a theme shipped with them.
Less to load. Less to break.04 / BUILD WHAT IS MISSING
Where the normal WordPress experience did not quite fit the requirement, small focused PluginPip tools were built instead of installing a large package for one feature.
A restricted WordPress and Plesk cache-clearing workflow designed around the actual production environment.
Curated, contrast-checked colour directions with live preview while preserving the canonical PluginPip logo and underlying layout.
A cleaner branded WordPress profile experience that leaves the underlying WordPress account and security functionality intact.
05 / QUALITY IS PART OF THE BUILD
The site has been repeatedly checked after design and code changes instead of assuming that a page which looks right is finished.
Earlier benchmark: On 12 August 2026, Lighthouse recorded 99 mobile performance and 100 desktop performance, with 100 accessibility and a reported layout shift of 0 in that test. These earlier values are historical snapshots.
Measurement note: The screenshots dated 20 October 2026 show no real-user field data. The four 100 scores apply to the homepage runs shown, not every page or every visitor.
Production changes are version-controlled, with an archived previous theme and a separate pre-deployment database backup retained for rollback. Updates are validated before release rather than silently overwriting the last proven build.
06 / THE POINT
Performance matters. So do accessibility, backups, content structure, security, updates, support, search visibility and having a route back when a change goes wrong.
That is why PluginPip treats the website as a system rather than a collection of pages.
